Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung’s office in Sudan is one of more than 100 FES offices and projects worldwide. Officially established in 1976, it promotes peace, democracy, social justice, gender equality, and human rights in collaboration with a broad range of Sudanese non-governmental and governmental partners. Since the revolution of 2019, it supports the efforts of civil society partners and the transitional government in bringing reforms and working towards democratic elections. more

Im Frühjahr 2019 führten Massenproteste in Verbindung mit dem Eingreifen des Militärs zum Sturz zweier, jahrzehntelang herrschender Präsidenten in Nordafrika: Omar al-Bashir in Sudan und Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Algerien.
