Climate change and renewable energies

The population of Sudan is very dependent on environmental influences. The country faces drastic environmental challenges, such as droughts, land degradation, deforestation and desertification. The impacts of climate change threaten the vulnerable population that depends on subsistence and semi-subsistence farming. The prospects of lasting peace and sustainable development highly depend on the responses Sudan has to find to cope with the critical challenges that lie ahead.

The FES Sudan Office cooperates with civil society organisations and governmental institutions to work on country-specific solutions for Sudan. The FES strives to involve policy decision makers in this process to advocate for decisive political action on climate change mitigation, protection of the environment and the use of renewable energies.
